I am an Electrical Engineering graduate from Harvard University and this letter to express my interest in regard to your program in Master of Science in Mathematics (Financial Mathematics and Statistics) at the HKUST. I had a good academic record, along with significant achievement in the field of Information Technology.

I learned about the Masters of Science in Mathematics program offered by your University through the University website. The program in particular caught my interest, because the edge cutting research offered by your University. I have always been enthralled by the science field which has always appealed to my interests since when I was a child and this is why I have chosen engineering as my field of study. I have a passion to apply Mathematical and Statistical skills which I gained while pursuing Engineering. I believe that joining the engineering field will equip me with a lot of experience while I pursue my education at your University. This combined some of the best professors as my mentors; I would consider myself lucky to be part of the university which has been at the forefront of education since long time. The highly distinguished professors at  your department is another factor propelling me to aspire gaining my knowledge from therein. Mingling and working closely the well qualified and diverse student population will further enhance my social skills and ability to share my knowledge as well as learning from others.
